Results obtained from preliminary studies showed that an industrial installation, such as a refinery processing 8.5 million tons of crude oil, can save up to 7% of its energy cost and reduce its carbon print up to 7% as well—without any investments.
An innovative approach created with the CitInES software tool takes into account all energy consumption (gas, steam, fuel oil, electricity, etc.), creating multiple possible scenarios and customizing and valuating simple operational management strategies. Business rules formulated by Artelys consultants can be directly applied in the field, leading to instant environmental and economic gains.
Artelys, project coordinator, is very pleased with the results obtained, and the perspectives opened by this project are promising for the European environmental objective 2020.
