Artelys Crystal: risk and asset management
in the energy sector
Artelys Crystal is a set
of open and scalable platforms for organizing and controlling
the forecast and the management of assets and risks in the
energy sector. Artelys Crystal
enables to monitor these activities over time for transparency
and auditability purposes.
These software platforms provide the most advanced functionalities
in terms of computation and analysis and offer a particularly
user-friendly interface. The models can be set up in order
to accurately emulate the systems of interest. Data exchange
functions offer a simple and efficient interface with existing
information systems.
The development of the Artelys
Crystal suite is supported by Oséo
Innovation, whose mission is in particular to fund innovative
research projects with strong growth perspective.
Artelys Crystal Forecast
(ACF) is a forecasting environment, dedicated to the management,
the visualization and the use of historical data, of forecast
results and of the different scenarios involved. With features
that allow a reliable control of the overall forecasting process,
both for operational purposes and for analysis and reporting,
ACF combines the efficiency
of time series statistical models with business expertise.
Artelys Generation
Scheduling System (AGSS) is a platform for the short term
management of power generation and financial assets in the
energy sector. Based on advanced combinatorial optimization,
it can model the economy of the system made of production
assets, contracts and positions on the markets. The innovative
structure of software allows it to be perfectly fitted to
a particular need.
The AGSS platform has been
chosen by Endesa
France, who successfully uses it in an operational context
for the daily scheduling of the power plants. Artelys also
entered into an agreement
with EDF to roll out AGSS
for the optimization of the short term power generation in
the island systems.
Artelys Generation
Management System (AGMS) is a platform for short and medium
term risk management in the energy sector. Based on simulation
techniques and stochastic optimization methods for solving
large scale dynamical and combinatorial problems, the AGMS
platform depicts the evolution over time of the scope of assets
and of the constraints to optimize management strategies.
It helps to deal with portfolio valuation issues and with
the dynamic optimization problems of the composition of the
portfolio.

Artelys can tailor the interfaces of the ACF,
AGSS and AGMS
platforms to meet the specific needs of its clients. Users
benefit from an environment of management and visualization
of their data, which is perfectly suited to their needs. Every
convenience is provided to input, edit, compare, aggregate
data, handle tables and curves safely.
Very easy to integrate
The Artelys Crystal suite
is designed to be efficiently embedded in any information
system, thanks to data exchanges in CSV or XML formats. An
internal relational database enables to store the computation
outputs. It does not require changes in the databases that
may be in place before Artelys
Crystal is installed.
