Artelys to distribute
KNITRO in Europe

Today, April 12th
2002, Artelys is delighted to announce an agreement with the
American company Ziena Optimization to distribute the KNITRO
nonlinear optimization software package in Europe.
KNITRO
implements state-of-the-art mathematical algorithms to solve
the toughest nonlinear optimization problems arising in industry.
The core technology of KNITRO is the result of ten years of
research into optimization algorithms at Northwestern University.KNITRO
is now being commercialized and marketed by Ziena Optimization,
a spin-off company of Northwestern University.
"Nonlinear optimization technology is crucial in numerous
areas such as network design and operations, finance, chemical
engineering, material design, and dynamic pricing," said
Arnaud Renaud, President and CEO of Artelys. "KNITRO's
numerical excellence makes it the ideal software package to
tackle the difficult problems arising in these industries".
"Artelys's strong experience in nonlinear optimization
will allow KNITRO customers in Europe to get an outstanding
level of support and services," said Jorge Nocedal, President
and CEO of Ziena. "Also Artelys's experience in marketing
optimization products will help Ziena to position KNITRO in
the growing market of nonlinear optimization applications
in Europe."
In addition to distributing and supporting Ziena's KNITRO,
Artelys will provide services to help their customers draw
the best out of nonlinear optimization technology within their
organization.
